Director of Policy, PR and Research
Andy has worked in education for nearly twenty years, in both the secondary and FE sectors. A trained teacher of modern foreign languages, he spent five years as Head of Student Support at a Further Education College on the south coast, during which time provision in the areas of IAG, tutorial and learning support improved from satisfactory to outstanding as judged by Ofsted. He managed a number of collaborative strategic projects during this time, and developed a particular interest in the leadership of change management as a result.
Andy has also worked in marketing and communications roles within the public sector and has led PR campaigns at a local level on behalf of Colleges and local authorities. He has also led national work on the use of technology for learning, and has extensive experience in curriculum design and delivery.
Andy holds the policy, PR and research brief within the 157 Group, and works closely with academic and other partner organisations to further raise the profile of action-research led development, with a particular focus on the leadership of teaching and learning. Andy holds a Masters from Cambridge University and a PGCE from Bristol University and is a primary school governor and a Fellow of the RSA.
